Mukesh Thakur
Founder and Practicing Partner | New Delhi
Professional Overview
Mukesh Thakur is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA, ICAI) and ACCA with over 22 years of experience spanning audit, assurance, international financial reporting, cross-border taxation, and CFO advisory. He is the Founder and Practicing Partner of Exactitude International (EXI), a New Delhi-headquartered multidisciplinary professional services firm established in 2013, now operating across India, the Middle East, and the UK.
Prior to founding EXI, Mukesh spent seven-plus years at Mazars — one of the world’s foremost international audit and advisory networks — leading engagements across power, manufacturing, telecommunications, banking, real estate, PSUs, e-commerce, and software. That cross-sector, cross-border foundation shapes how EXI approaches every client mandate today: with rigour, range, and a clear commercial orientation.
He founded Exactitude Advisors and PMH & Associates LLP in 2013, building a practice that combined technical depth with practical advisory. In 2024, this evolved into Exactitude International — a platform designed not merely to serve clients, but to rethink what a professional services firm could be: integrated, sustainability-first, senior-led, and uncompromising in quality.
“The right solutions are created through the right structure, the right collaboration, and the exact attitude. At EXI, excellence is not a destination — it is the standard from which we begin.”
Areas of Practice
International Financial Reporting & GAAP Advisory
A recognised authority on IFRS, US GAAP, and Ind AS, Mukesh has guided organisations through first-time adoptions, complex standard conversions, and ongoing compliance across diverse industries and jurisdictions. He makes global accounting standards accessible and commercially actionable — not just technically correct.
He is the author of Guide to Financial Instruments (Taxmann, 2009) — a practitioner reference that simplified the complex requirements of AS 30, 31, and 32, and has remained a trusted resource for finance professionals across India.
Cross-Border Tax & International Advisory
Mukesh advises businesses navigating cross-border structures, international tax planning, transfer pricing, and FEMA compliance — helping them build frameworks that are tax-efficient, commercially sound, and built to last across multiple jurisdictions. His advisory is rooted in the realities of doing business globally, not just the theory of it.
CFO Advisory & Finance Transformation
Through EXI’s Virtual CFO practice, Mukesh helps businesses build finance functions that think ahead — not just report backwards. He works with founders and leadership teams on financial modelling, management reporting, business planning, and the transformation of finance from a compliance function into a genuine strategic asset.
ESG & Governance
Mukesh brings a sustainability-first philosophy to every engagement. He advises organisations on ESG frameworks, governance structures, and internal controls — helping them build lasting credibility with investors, regulators, and stakeholders at home and abroad. At EXI, sustainability is not a service line. It is a founding value.
Audit & Assurance
Grounded in the technical rigour of a Mazars-trained audit career, Mukesh leads EXI’s assurance practice with a focus on quality, independence, and genuine insight. His audits go beyond compliance — they surface risks, sharpen governance, and add value that extends well beyond the opinion.
Beyond the Desk
Mukesh is a recognised speaker on IFRS, corporate governance, ESG, and cross-border financial strategy, addressing corporate boards, professional associations, international platforms, and startup communities. He is known for his ability to make technical subjects engaging, practical, and commercially relevant — a discipline that runs through both his advisory and his public engagements.
A committed communicator and leadership development practitioner, Mukesh is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) — the highest award conferred by Toastmasters International. He has served in several leadership roles within the organisation, including Division Director and District Finance Manager. He completed the landmark #100Days100Speeches project, delivering 100 speeches in 100 days on Instagram Live — a testament to his belief in the compounding power of consistent practice and disciplined execution.
